Food is our primary passion at MarketPlace, of course, but it’s definitely not the start and end of our interests. Take pets, for instance. Whether they’re our own or others’, we love pets. MarketPlace is a second home to Silky Landau (our lovely black lab), and we generally play host to a number of other employee pets on any given day. Many of our team work with animals in their own time: Nicole volunteers with pet organizations, Crystal photographs dogs professionally, I stubbornly argue for felines in the cats vs. dogs debate, etc. And, of course, we love helping pet companies with their marketing challenges, as much of our food knowledge clicks naturally with pet nutrition and care. Lately, though, we’ve wanted to do even more to help out our animal companions.
Every year, MarketPlace partners with a different charity or non-profit organization to help get the word out about their mission and message. In 2013, we’ll be working with Stray Rescue, a unique St. Louis organization that’s literally changing the way stray and abused animals are rescued, rehabilitated, and placed in adoptive homes.
Every year, hundreds of animals are abandoned, neglected, and abused in the St. Louis area. Stray Rescue has taken on a major, proactive role in helping these animals – not only in recovering them, healing them, and finding them homes but also in working with the city to introduce greater change, including aggressively addressing the hot-button issue of animal cruelty. The end goal, of course, is to transform St. Louis into a city where stray or mistreated animals are a thing of the past and every pet can get the loving home they deserve.
Started by Randy Grim with little more than his determination and incredible love for animals, Stray Rescue is now a model and gold standard for stray care and treatment, and we’re proud to have the opportunity to help them advance their message. Planned projects for the year include a complete overhaul of the Stray Rescue website, including a new pet matching feature, a promotional video, and more. We can’t wait to get started!
Check out strayrescue.org to learn more about the wonderful work they do (or to adopt a new animal companion for yourself?), and keep an eye out for the initiatives we’ll be helping them with in the coming year. And if you’re interested in furthering your message, MarketPlace can help you reach a wider audience with greater impact. Do get in touch with us if you’d like to learn more about how we can help.
