About the Job

MarketPlace is a brand strategy and activation company that focuses on bettering the lives of people and pets. MarketPlace seeks a leader with demonstrated experience in nurturing and identifying talent for growth, as well as managing day-to-day HR responsibilities. The HR Generalist position will focus on growth-oriented organizational design and talent recruitment/retention, resulting in positive employee and customer experiences.


  • Manage all aspects of recruiting and interviewing process, including employment ads, interviews, assessments, and preparation related documentation
  • Utilize LinkedIn Recruiter, in conjunction with Paylocity Recruiting, Applicant Tracking System and related promotional and assessment tools.
  • Manage all aspects of onboarding and offboarding.
  • Update and maintain staff payroll information and documentation, including electronic and physical files. Maintain efficient processes and methods for administration.
  • Run bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly staff through Paylocity Payroll
  • Administer benefits programs such as life, health, and dental insurance, 401K, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
  • Oversee benefit plan changes and renewals and consult with Agency Controller and Ownership on recommendations.
  • Advise management regarding employee relations and agency policies, organizational design, and management guidelines.
  • Develop goal-based review process and compensation budget / incentives in cooperation with Agency Controller, Ownership, and Directors.
  • Work with company leaders to establish responsibility matrix in support of company roles, project workflow, and overall objectives.
  • Develop and maintain bonus / incentive structures in support of company objectives and exceptional employee performance
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance
  • In conjunction with Owners and Directors, prepare HR notices, including promotions, disciplinary actions, terminations, and related documentation


  • Generate operational budget with guidance from Agency Controller and Owners
  • Contribute to direction and application of Project Management System and Timekeeping System in conjunction with company leadership
  • Maintain internal and external legal documents with CEO and outside legal counsel (MP Corporate, client, employee, vendor, etc.)
  • Coordinate with IT vendor (resource needs, new employee set-up, etc.)
  • Assist with general office organization and planning
  • Maintain and organize business records and filings

Qualifications & Education

  • Minimum of 4 years HR Administration and recruiting experience required experience required, preferably in a marketing, advertising, or creative agency, or in a consulting setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess business needs and recruit talent to achieve overall goals.
  • Seeks results and is willing to be diplomatic or firm as necessary to deliver upon objectives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • 2-3 years administering payroll (Paylocity preferred) and benefits (health, dental, 401K, etc.).
  • SHRM, PMP, or other relevant certifications preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
